Well, I'm still in, and I don't care if they say I can't show a picture of her with my dolls, because I am DAMN PROUD to have her in my collection.

I love you, I miss you, and I can't wait to see you at IDEX, Jason will be coming (he promised) so no worries, relaxe, you have the best Karma that I have ever ran through, and it will bite that witch right on the nose!

This drama is...ugh, I'm not a fan of drama and accusations and leaping to conclusions in one direction or another, not under any circumstances.

I placed my order before all of this went down...got in on the pre-order, actually, so as far as I know what's done is done for me. (I was actually most attracted to the body, which doesn't seem to be the hot-topic. Little flat-chested androgyne will make a perfect fit for my crew.) Saddens me to have to edit my plans for future photo-stories, but at this point it seems all to be done is roll with the punches and try to take the high road.

Am I the only one finding the in-progress photos really interesting?

I love you, and miss you. I can't wait to see you again. No worries about the drama, you take care of yourself, your baby and your husband. Family first. In the meantime, at least we can try to update the site a bit with some news, more photos, little things. You don't need drama, you need love and rest.
And you know how all of us here will make sure you get what you need ;3

Not at all. I always love seeing the progress photos. It's a glimpse into how one could sculpt their own doll, if they wanted!

Just so you guys know, it is fine on Den of Angels to have photos of Off Topic Dolls as long as there are On Topic dolls in the photos with them.

Hi there Lindsey,

I wanted to let you know, that I received the dolls...but sadly I'm pretty disappointed... all 4 fruit sister heads that I received do not actually match the bodies...all 4 heads were obviously cast at different times than the bodies...I know this is not your fault as you do not cast these dolls...you are just a dealer...
but the heads are much paler and have a yellow tint to the resin and the bodies are darker than the heads and have a Pinkish tint to the resin...so the tints don't even match...I know this can be "covered up" with a slightly heavily blushed faceup...but I really think you should let the caster/AE know that it's not really acceptable to send dolls out like this...
especially after having quite the setback on top of sending out dolls like this... This is the first time I've ordered an AE doll and I not only ordered 1 but 2 and got 2 heads as well... and if the company thinks it's ok to send out mismatched dolls than I don't think I'll be ordering any more AE dolls...
but you as a dealer have been wonderful to work with...I'll definitely buy from you again...I just really think you should let AE know what they did was not very professional...

a person named Jim chan answered my email saying Lindsey was out of town but that she would get back to me...Lindsey never got back to me on the mismatched resin problem with the dolls that were sent to me (as she obviously did not care that I was unsatisfied with the quality I was sent)...but she did get back to me on another question I had...but she completely ignored the fact that I had a problem with my order...
ae also never got back to me even though Jim chan said he was going to forward my "concerns" to ae...but obviously they did not care enough about the complaint to even acknowledge it...

and for anyone who knows me...mismatching dolls really kind of piss me off and I end up never keep them (only made the exception like once)...so I passed off all of them to people I've met at conventions as they did not care or mind that they were mismatched and I sold them for less than I paid for them due to the mismatching...I even gave one away to a dear friend of mine as a small thanks for watching my house for over 2 and 1/2 months while I was gone...
but I have contacted one of the people I sold the dolls to and she has agreed to send me a head for comparison pics with my prototype (I will have up as soon as I have both heads in my possession)...so I will have side by side comparisons to shove in the faces of the accusers and I will demand a public apology for the False slanders and attempts to WRONGFULLY defame my name...

Hi Natalie, I recently received a chibi ted for Christmas (the one that looks like Artemis) and I just wanted to say I think all of your dolls are wonderful even Serenity (she is sooo beautiful your baby too lols) and I am sorry to hear that such a talented and wonderful artist as you is being slandered this way! I hope this is resolved very soon and I hope those losers see their mistakes because to me its very obvious they are wrong! I wanted to say thank you for your wonderful work and I hope to see more in the future

'off-topic' ok, 'banned' not ok.

And in this case it appears that DoA has gone even further and not only banned the doll, but banned LS without (as far as I can tell) giving her a chance to prove her case. Heck, in the case of some of the more blatant chinese pirates the debate goes on for months. This all came about in 1 day????

Hasn't anyone even wondered... why in the world would an established artist with a unique and well-defined style (LS) bother to copy a 3rd-rate company's so-so sculpt? It makes no sense at all!

So.... Natalie, will you have her on display at IDEX? I'd love to see her in person and hopefully order one.

Hmmm, absolutely right you are. I just don't get why they banned the doll without even investigating the situation. Seems so arbitrary, and unfair.

Honestly, I hope one of those magazines will do an article about the trials and tribulations Natalie has gone through with her sculpts. Every time she releases something the people who apparently have bad eyesight start screaming "OMG copyartist BAN!!!"

I popped on over hear after finding out LadySaiyuki was banned on DoA and man, what a crazy thing! You're going to have to be careful though about this one...being accused of copying is always a lengthy and complicated process....

It is a sticky situation. It bothers me that the accusations are based purely on photographs for one. I really don't see how one could definitively say that LadySaiyuki copied a doll without a physical comparison of the parts in question.
In the case of the head, I have done overlays on my own and I can see differences.
I've also read accusations about other body parts and frankly there are many doll companies who use the same looks and joints and everything. My AOD and DZ girls have nearly identical knee joints except that the AOD legs are thinner. Aside from that, the human body cannot be copyrighted, therefore a sculpted approximation cannot be a true copy unless it is a cast made from a mold from another doll.
There are also claims that LS must be lying because of EXIF data on photographs, but that is not a reliable method either because the data can be scrubbed, changed, or in the case of some of my photos, just plain wrong. I have photos taken last year of me in a dress I did not own until July and the EXIF data apparently thinks I traveled back to 2007 to take the pictures.

You know you have a really good idea! Where are LS dolls? Does Dennis still have them? If he has the Serenity pro-type she could just give him permission to let AE see the doll and do a side by side comparison! That would end everything right there! Don't you think?

As for photos I think they're a good start and you're right data can be changed by the person with the original files or someone really good. AE thought it was close enough to their Pear to make an announcement about it and I'm sure they didn't do it lightly.

But I think your idea is best Discorixan a side by side would solve everything! Stella Do you have any Pear owners in your area?

I don't think I know anyone with this type of doll, I do however own a mob of LS dolls that I would be happy to compare if I can find someone. We have a meetup next week, I will ask.

I think it's absolutely horrible what happened, and was shocked when I found out what DoA did, and so quickly! I think you're girl is gorgeous! She really does look like a little Mature Ted and would probably make an adorable little sister to him. I seem to remember them talking about copying issues when the Mature Ted came out as well. That he looked like an El, I believe? Well, I own both a Mature Ted and an El, and they are nothing alike. Serenity has similarities between this AE doll, but is not a copy. Honestly, I think your girl is much prettier.

I met LS at a doll making conference in 2007. We sculpted doll bodies over the course of the day. She told me sculpted dolls and toys for a living. I havent spoken to her since then, but I have to support her, since I saw her talent in "action". It would make no sense for her to steal something, dolls just flow out of her. So sorry this had to happen. You have all my support and sympathy. Fitz

A lot of dolls can be said to "look similar" and I'm sure that once you show them all your in-progress stuff that will clear everything up

I purchased a Pear head for comparison pictures. I'm not sure exactly when I'll be getting it. I just emailed the seller this morning and hopefully they'll give me an answer soon.

Edit: It's Chinese new year, so there's no communication with the factory. But the seller did say I should get it around the end of the month.
